Infant Dies After Medical Emergency At Twin Cities Daycare, Police Warn Other Families

Authorities urge families to watch children for symptoms as the investigation continues.

SAVAGE, MN — An infant died Monday after a medical emergency at Rocking Horse Ranch Childcare in Savage, police said.

The Savage Police Department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are conducting a joint investigation into the child’s death. The infant was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

Authorities said the child’s identity will be released once the preliminary autopsy is complete and the family has been notified.

"As a precautionary measure, families with children who attend this childcare facility should closely monitor their children and seek immediate medical attention if they exhibit altered mental status, unusual behavioral changes, or other concerning symptoms," the Savage Police Department said in the release.

“The investigation remains active and ongoing,” police added. “Our thoughts are with the family during this incredibly difficult time.”
