ISD 191 Admin Will Be New Superintendent Of Waconia Public Schools

BURNSVILLE, MN — The assistant superintendent for ISD 191 will soon be the new superintendent for Waconia Public Schools, according to a news release from Waconia's school district.

Brian Gersich will begin his new position July 1 once his contract is approved by the school board on May 16, Waconia Public Schools said. The position is contingent on Gersich then approving the contract and passing a background check, according to the district.

The district's school board unanimously selected Gersich for the position, the district said.

The school board reviewed 16 applications and held two rounds of interviews for the position, according to the district.

"Brian has shown our board that he not only meets, but exceeds, the hiring criteria
established by our board and stakeholders," Waconia Board Chair Dana Geller said. "As the new leader of Waconia Public Schools, he will be able to build on the past work and successes the Waconia Schools are known for, and he is committed to moving the district forward. We are excited for this next chapter of student achievements to begin."
