ISD 191 To Move To Distance Learning Thursday And Friday
Students will return to in-person learning Jan. 18.
DAKOTA COUNTY, MN — Independent School District 191 announced that its schools will shift to distance learning Thursday and Friday, due to the rise of COVID-19 in the community.
On Monday, 1,400 students, or 20 percent of the district's enrollment, were absent, the district said. On Tuesday, 70 teachers were absent, and less than half of the absences were able to be filled by substitute teachers, the district said. The staffing shortages have also affected other district services such as transportation and food service, according to the district.
The district said that it expects students to be able to return to in-person learning Tuesday, with Monday being a no-school day due to Martin Luther King Day. Virtual Academy will continue as normal, and specific distance learning plans will be communicated by each school principal, the district said.
