Minnesota Connections Academy Recognizes Burnsville Student

Aaron Romero Martinez of Burnsville was recently named one of Minnesota Connections Academy’s (MNCA) Students of the Month in recognition of his achievements and leadership in the virtual classroom.

Aaron, a freshman at the public online school, was nominated by his teacher, Mrs. Howe because of his hard work and outstanding attitude towards learning. As a Student of the Month, Aaron will receive a certificate of achievement and be profiled in the Minnesota Connections Academy student newsletter and the school’s social media platforms.

“Our students of the month demonstrate leadership and an extraordinary commitment to learning while serving as strong role models for their peers,” said Brad Swanson, School Leader at Minnesota Connections Academy. “The members of our faculty and staff are proud to give these virtual classroom leaders the recognition they deserve.”

Aaron came to Minnesota Connections Academy during the pandemic in 2020 to be in an alternative learning environment where he and his family could be safe. According to his mother Trista, through that experience and even when the traditional schools were re-opened, Aaron did very well learning online and earned “amazing grades” and achieved Honor Roll status every semester since the sixth grade.

Among the things that Trista said Aaron appreciates most about MNCA is the flexibility to work at his own individual pace.
