Most Recent Deaths: Popular Byerly's Bagger Passes On
Thomas Hammang was known for his jokes and his ardent, unflagging support of the Packers and the Twins.

Thomas G. Hammang, father of five and well-known bagger at Byerly's died on April 14 at the age of 80. Hammang was born June 8, 1931 in Albertville, MN. As an adult he moved to North Western Wisconsin where he married Phyllis Hecht in 1951. The two raised five children together but divorced in 1984. Tom moved to the Twin Cities. He was wed to wife Mary in 1986. Tom was a jack-of-all trades who spent much of his career in sales. In his later years, he worked as a bagger for Byerly’s Foods in Burnsville, chatting with customers and telling stories. He never missed a Green Bay game (and was a priavte supporter of the Vikings as well, but only if they weren't matched against the Packers.
