National Weather Service Forecasts Dense Fog for Twin Cities Region

Commuters should take special care when they head out in the morning. The National Weather Service has released an advisory in anticipation of a wave of heavy fog, which is forecast for tonight and Wednesday morning.

The NWS attributes the fog to an "unseasonably moist airmass across Minnesota and Wisconsin." After 10 p.m., the fog is expected to expand rapidly across Central and Southern Minnesota, from Brainerd to Morris to Albert Lea. Visibility will be reduced down to a quarter mile or less after midnight. The fog will persist into midmorning in Eastern Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.

The advisory ends at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

In the meantime, drivers can expect hazardous traveling conditions. The NWS advises those on the road to slow down, use headlights and leave plenty of following distance.
