New Charges Filed in New Year's Shooting Death
After months of silence, the Burnsville Police Department has filed charges against Kyle Alan Dague, 23, for his alleged role in the death of Justin J. Schauer.

For the second time, a Burnsville man has been taken into custody in the New Year's shooting death of 22-year-old Justin J. Schauer of Burnsville. Today, Kyle Alan Dague, 23, was booked into the Dakota County Jail on second-degree manslaughter and discharging a weapon within city limits, both felonies.

This is the second time that Dague has been charged in connection with Schauer's death. In the days following the shooting, Dague was .
Dague made the call to Burnsville police, Bochniak said. When officers arrived, they found Schauer dead and took Dague into custody. Police recovered a handgun at the scene. However, at the time there was some question about precisely what happened.

“Our officers got a call that the subject might have shot himself,” Sgt. Rory Bochniak said at the time. “We don’t know exactly what [Dague] told the officers. We’re trying to determine exactly what happened in that apartment.”
Dague is being held on a $150,000 bond, though he could be released on $25,000 if he complies with conditions required by the court.
