According Jim Lewis's Facebook page, he opened the Depot as a bistro offering espresso, wine, beer and chef-driven foods after spending 25 years developing global sales and marketing strategies for IT companies. The depot was built in 1880 by the Chicago, Minneapolis and Omaha railroads, according to the <a href="https://www.danpatch.com/default.asp?id=4" rel="nofollow">Dan Patch Historical Society website</a>. The historic building had spent time at what was then Murphy's Landing (now ) in Shakopee from the 1970s until 2006, when it was moved back to Savage.
