Skaters, Rockers, Writers, Inventors Will Be Out This Weekend

Participate in activities that hit just about every genre of fun.

Energized by the warm weather so far this week? Winter will probably be returning for the weekend, but that doesn't mean you have to stay at home. These events will get you out and about.

1. Friday the 13th Show! at The Garage

When/Where: 5:15 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Garage.

Why Go: The teen center will be hosting an impressive line up of 10 local bands including Every Man a King, Tomorrow May Fall, and All Bets Are Off.

Price: Cover is $5 in advance and $7 at the door.

2. 

When/Where: 6 p.m. Saturday, Lakeville Area Arts Center, Lakeville

Why Go: The talented company dancers of this Apple Valley studio hone their skills all year through practice and performance. Heartbeat's companies have performed worldwide.

Price: $10 for adults, $7 for students/seniors

When/Where: 2 p.m. Saturday, Burnhaven Library, Burnsville

Why Go: Fancy yourself a writer? Love to travel? Interested in combining the two? Local author and professional blogger Charlene Hilton Anderson will provide tips on how to best execute a successful travel blog (and maybe even ?).

4. 

When/Where: Noon to 3 p.m. Sunday,  ice rinks, Apple Valley

Why Go: This tournament  to raise money for the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance. It looks like the weather might shape up just in time for the tournament scheduled for this weekend, so you can finally get outside and watch a popular Minnesota pasttime for a good cause.

5. 

When/Where: 8:30 to noon Saturday, Eagan High School, Eagan

Why Go: Last year, dozens of District 196 fourth- and fifth-graders put their brainpower into inventions that they . Let them wow you with their creative and scientific ideas.

6. 

When/Where: 6 to 10 p.m. Sunday at Double Ditty's Dueling Piano Bar (at /Bogart's Place)

Why Go: All active duty and retired military members and their significant guests are invited to Apple Valley's newest attraction—the dueling piano show—with no cover (ID required). Social hour at 6 p.m. followed by the 7 p.m. show. As an added bonus for those who can't swing a babysitter, kids 6-12 will get to bowl for free during the event.
