South Metro Polar Plunge To Raise Money For Special Olympics MN
The 17th annual South Metro Polar Plunge starts at noon Feb. 26 at Crystal Beach in Burnsville. Registration starts at 11 a.m.
BURNSVILLE, MN — Hundreds of people from around the South Metro are set to make a splash Feb. 26 to support Special Olympics in Minnesota.
More than 375 people are expected to jump into the frozen Crystal Lake on Saturday for the 17th annual South Metro Polar Plunge. The event raised more than $2.7 million during its first 16 years, with 221 people raising over $77,000 in 2021, according to the official Polar Plunge website.
Organizers set a $175,000 fundraising goal for 2022. As of Tuesday afternoon, the 379 plungers had raised $68,777.

The "Rascals Jumpers" team has brought in the most donations of any group so far for the South Metro Polar Plunge, adding $7,399 to the fundraising total.

Polar plungers can park at Hosanna Church or Carbone's in Lakeville. There will be shuttles to and from Crystal Beach beginning at 11 a.m.
