Teacher Chosen as Interim Principal of M.W. Savage Elementary
Jeff Nepsund will take the place of Principal Jeremy Willey, who announced he would be leaving for the Osseo Area School District in early August.

It's all but official: Teacher Jeff Nepsund has been chosen as the interim principal for M.W. Savage Elementary for the 2012-2013 school year.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to become the interim principal at Marion W. Savage and I look forward to developing relationships with the staff and families,” Nepsund said in a District 191 press release. “It will be my honor and privilege to provide leadership that supports the educational needs of the students.”

In , the school lost its principal, Jeremy Willey, who had helmed M.W. Savage since the 2008-2009 school year. Willey left the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District to become principal of Fernbrook Elementary in the Osseo Area School District.
Nepsund has been with ISD 191 for over 20 years. He has served in a variety of capacities. Most recently, he taught third-grade at Hidden Valley Elementary in Savage over the 2011-2012 school year.

In spite of the relatively short time frame, the district reported that a strong pool of candidates applied for the position. The candidates were vetted by two teams of teachers, support staff, parents and administrators who interviewed applicants and referred their top candidates to District Assistant Superintendent Chris Lindholm and Superintendent Randy Clegg to make the final selection.
Nepsund started at M.W. Savage last in order to prepare for the coming school year. His appointment will only be official pending approval from the School Board, however. The board will take a vote on the matter during the next meeting on Sept. 6.
The long-tmer future of M.W. Savage remains to be seen. In anticipation of further , the district opted against hiring a permanent principal. Vista View Elementary is also under the leadership of an interim principal at present.
