• Annual District 191 Spelling Bee: Tonight, 31 students will compete for orthographic supremacy. The showdown begins at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, in the Mraz Center at Burnsville High School, 600 E. Highway 13.
• Shaun Johnson Big Band Experience: Crooner Shaun Johnson brings his eight-piece big band to the Burnsville Performing Arts Center for an "evening of elegance." The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Proceeds from the show children fighting life-threatening conditions through Wishes & More.

Tuesday
• City Council Meeting: This week, the Burnsville Council members will consider the further action with regards to — an apartment complex that has received over 100 safety and building code violations in the last year.

• Girl Singers of the Hit Parade Christmas Show: Tuesday night, these performers will channel the 1940s and 1950s with sumptuous gowns and nostalgic classics like Brenda Lee’s "Rockin Around The Christmas Tree" and the Andrew’s Sister’s "Merry Christmas Polka." The show starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $19 a piece.
Friday
• Charles Stone Memorial Ski Race: This will take place at Buck Hill at 8:00 a.m. Registration cuts off on Wednesday, Dec. 21.
• City offices closed for the Christmas holiday.
• Winter Break Begins: Students in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 will be on winter break from Friday through Monday, Jan. 2, 2012. All schools will be back in session on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
