Traffic Switch on 35E at Portland Causes Headaches, Continues Through July 2

Motorists traveling both directions of the Portland Avenue Bridge spanning Interstate 35E in Burnsville were met with some gridlock early this morning.

Both directions of the Portland Avenue Bridge were shifted Tuesday morning to the northbound lanes (southbound will be using part of the turn lanes).  Once crews complete work on the southbound lanes traffic will shift to the northbound side of the bridge.

All lanes are scheduled to re-open by July 2.

Work on the new bridge deck is, of course, weather permitting and could change for inclement weather.

The Portland bridge repair is part of the larger 35E/35W project that's working its way through the south metro.
