Motorists can expect backup and traffic snarls on Interstate 35 this weekend, according to officials at the Minnesota Department of Transportation: From Friday night to early Monday, the northbound lanes Interstate I-35W between Hwy 13 and the I-35/I-35W/I-35E split in Burnsville will be closed for construction of the new MnPASS express lane. Last weekend, the southbound lanes were blocked off. MNDOT advises drivers to take the following detour: Northbound I-35E to northbound Hwy 77 (Cedar Ave) to westbound Hwy 13 to northbound I-35W.  The interstate will be closed off at 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21. The stretch of road will reopen to traffic by 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24.
