80-Year-Old Eden Prairie Man Killed Walking Across Highway

An 80-year-old man was killed Monday morning while walking across a highway in Eden Prairie​.

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN — An 80-year-old man was killed Monday morning while walking across a highway in Eden Prairie.

Just after 7 a.m., John Thomas Nordeen of Eden Prairie was walking "against traffic" in the crosswalk when he was struck by a 2008 Mazda 6 traveling eastbound on Highway 5, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

He died at the scene, authorities said.

The driver of the Mazda was not injured in the crash, according to investigators. Conditions were dry at the time of the crash, authorities said.
