‘Alberta Clipper’ Could Bring Snow To Eagan On Friday: NWS

EAGAN, MN — A snowstorm will hit the Twin Cities on Friday, according to National Weather Service.

The storm is caused by a low pressure system, fondly nicknamed an "Alberta Clipper," originating in Alberta, Canada and moving southeast, NWS said. The Alberta Clipper usually brings cold and snow along with it.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area could get up to three inches of snow.

Dakota County is also under a hazardous weather outlook. NWS says that a mix of snow and freezing rain is possible Thursday morning and there will be snow Friday.

Here's how this week's snowstorm will affect Eagan:

Wednesday night: There is a 30 percent chance of snow and freezing rain before 4 a.m. It will be mostly cloudy with a low of 22 degrees.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a high near 30 degrees.

Thursday night: There is a 20 percent chance of snow after midnight. It will be mostly cloudy with a low of 14 degrees.

Friday: Snow is likely, and 1-3 inches is possible. It will be mostly cloudy with a high of 18 degrees.

Friday night: There is a 40 percent chance of snow before midnight. It will be cloudy with a low of 2 degrees.

Saturday: It will be sunny with a high of 17 degrees.
