Domestic Dispute Leads to Drug Charges for Eagan Woman

If convicted, Nicole Knapp, 25, faces up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

A local woman was arrested on Nov. 22 on charges of felony fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance after responded to a call regarding a domestic dispute in progress.

According to a Dakota County criminal complaint filed on Nov. 23:

Nicole Kristine Knapp, 25, was pulled over by Eagan police after she fled the scene of a domestic dispute. On their way to the scene, police were advised Knapp was "out of control on methamphetamine" and had left the scene in her car.

Police caught up with Knapp at the corner of Cooper Lane and Quartz Lane and recognized her vehicle as the one involved in the domestic dispute.

When they asked for identification, Knapp told police it was in her purse, the complaint says.

Upon looking inside Knapp's purse, officers found a plastic bag containing white crystals, which were later determined to be 8.08 grams of amphetamine.

During their search police also found a clear plastic bag containing pills, eight of which were later identified as Xanax—which contains the Schedule IV controlled substance Alprazolam.

The arrest was Knapp's second drug-related offense in less than three years. According to the complaint, Knapp was convicted of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance in June 2009.

If convicted of the charge against her, Knapp could spend up to 10 years in prison and be ordered to pay a $20,000 fine.
