Eagan Election 2022: Here's What Will Appear On Your Ballot

Here's what Eagan residents should know heading into the 2022 midterm primary races.

EAGAN, MN — Primary ballots in Eagan are set to feature contested races for county, statewide and federal offices.

All candidates who want to appear on primary and election ballots later this year were required to file signatures by Tuesday with the Minnesota Secretary of State's Office.

The Aug. 9 primary will include races for county attorney, governor, secretary of state, attorney general, and more.

Gov. Tim Walz is seeking re-election alongside Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan and will face competition for the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party's nomination during the primary from Ole Savior and Julia M. Parker, who also filed as DFL candidates for those offices.

Former state Sen. Scott Jensen — who earned the Republican Party's endorsement at its convention last month — has selected former Minnesota Vikings center Matt Birk as his running mate. They will face primary competition from two sets of candidates.

Incumbent Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon faces a primary challenge from Steve Carlson for the DFL's nomination in his race for re-election, while Kim Crockett and Erik van Mechelen will face off on Aug. 9 for the Republican Party's nomination.

Bill Dahn is challenging incumbent Attorney General Keith Ellison in the Democratic primary, and Jim Schultz, Doug Wardlow and Sharon Anderson have filed to appear as candidates for the Republican primary.

Schultz earned the Republican Party's endorsement last month but faces a challenge from Wardlow — general counsel for MyPillow and a friend of its founder, Mike Lindell — who reneged on a promise not to run in the primary if he did not earn the endorsement.
