Eagan Officer Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries In I-35E Crash
An Eagan police officer was responding to an emergency call early Tuesday morning when it was hit by a semi-truck, authorities said.

EAGAN, MN — An Eagan police officer is in "critical but stable condition" after his squad car and a semi-truck collided Tuesday morning.
Just after 5 a.m., Officer Kade Eggum was responding to an emergency call when his squad was struck on Interstate 35E and Yankee Doodle Road.
The squad car merged onto northbound I-35E from Pilot Knob Road and was traveling in the right lane with emergency lights activated, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The squad car attempted to make a left turn at the median crossover at Yankee Doodle Road but collided with a semi-truck also traveling northbound, authorities said.
Following the first collision, the squad hit a third vehicle — a 2014 Ford Escape— on the passenger side. The squad car came to rest in the center median.

Eggum was transported by ambulance to Regions Hospital with "life-threatening" injuries. The driver of the Ford and the semi driver were not injured in the crash, authorities said.
Conditions were dry at the time of the collision, according to investigators.
"Please know we appreciate all the prayers and kind words during this difficult time for the department," the Eagan Police Department said in a statement.
