Eagan Police Blotter: Sept. 8-10

A roundup of selected Eagan Police Department calls and arrests.

Sept. 8

-Police responded to a deck fire in the 4500 block of Slater Road. The apartment resident said she had smoked on the deck the night before and put out her cigarette in a planter; she told police that she thought the fire had been smoldering all night and that it had left a hole in the deck.

-Police responded to a two-vehicle accident at Lexington Avenue and Yankee Doodle Road. One car rear-ended another one. There were no injuries.

-Police cited a driver at Diffley Road and Rahn Road for driving without insurance, driving without a driver’s license and failure to wear a seat belt.

-An employee of Wings Financial in the 3200 block of Denmark Avenue reported that a man had presented a counterfeit $20 bill and became upset when the bank refused to take it. The man told bank employees that he was a treasurer for Narcotics Anonymous and that he had received the bill in a donation basket.

-Police responded to a two-car accident at Pilot Knob Road and Yankee Doodle Road. There were no injuries.

-Police served an outstanding felony warrant on a 29-year-old woman in the 3400 block of Wescott Woodlands. The woman also was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and synthetic marijuana.

-A caller asked police to check on a possibly suicidal friend in the 1400 block of Violet Lane. Police entered the woman’s home and found nobody there; they left a note for her to call. She called police and told them that she had had thoughts of suicide, but had spoken to crisis counselors and her family.

-A caller at Eagandale Boulevard and Lone Oak Road reported witnessing a two-car accident in which airbags were deployed and fluid was left all over the road.

-A caller in the 4400 block of Cinnamon Ridge Circle reported that someone broke into a home, punching out an upper-level window screen and opening another screen on the lower level. A laptop computer was reported missing.

-An employee of Mediterranean Grill in the 1900 block of Rahncliff Court reported a fight involving four or five people in the restaurant’s parking lot, with at least one person unconscious. Police responded and interviewed participants and witnesses.

Sept. 9

-A caller in the 800 block of Wescott Trail reported that a friend was complaining about “itching all over” and saying he felt as though “he is being plagued by God for sleeping in bed with a woman when he isn’t married.” The man told police that he was “having issues with God over some life choices.” He was taken to a Minneapolis shelter.

-A caller in the 4100 block of Rahn Road reported at least two people fighting in an apartment building hallway, including swearing, “banging around” and a mention of knives. Police cited a 20-year-old suspect for underage drinking.

-A caller in the 1500 block of Wexford Court reported that someone took a television and miscellaneous items out of his car, which was left overnight in an open garage.

-A caller reported that someone hit her car while it was parked at Eagan High School and damaged the car’s front bumper.

-A caller in the 1500 block of Wexford Court reported that someone stole a cell phone out of a car, which was left overnight in an open garage.

-A caller in the 4100 block of Rahn Road reported that a 15-year-old girl had been staying with her since the girl’s mother left her in Dakota County four months ago and returned to her home in Fergus Falls. Police contacted child protection authorities and tried to reach the girl’s mother.

-A caller in the 2000 block of Silver Bell Road reported the theft of a laptop computer.

-A caller in the 4100 block of Pilot Knob Road reported that an apparently drunk man had gotten out of a car and staggered toward a liquor store before getting back in the car and driving away. Police stopped the suspect and cited him for DWI.

-Police were called to help get an Alzheimer’s patient back to the Clare Bridge home. The man was reportedly “combative” and uncooperative. Two officers helped employees get him back to the home.

-A caller in the 2900 block of Commers Drive reported that a former employee had left the company with a company cell phone when he was fired and hadn’t returned it. Theft charges will be filed against the man.

-A caller at Cub Foods in the 1000 block of Diffley Road reported that two young children, one in a car seat, had been left alone in a car with the windows up. The car’s owner was cited for leaving an unattended vehicle running.

A caller told police that a woman in the 3500 block of Woodland Court had made suicidal threats and said she had overdosed on an unspecified medication. Police found the 45-year-old woman at home, and she was taken to a hospital.

-Police responded to a report in the 1700 block of Four Oaks Road of a 28-year-old woman who had intentionally taken an overdose after threatening suicide. The woman was taken to a hospital.

-Police stopped a car at Cliff Drive and Nicols Road and cited the driver for driving without insurance.

-Police stopped a car at 142nd Street West and Cedar Avenue and cited a 48-year-old woman for DWI.

-Police stopped a car at Lone Oak Road and Pilot Knob Road and cited a 29-year-old man for driving with a revoked license and having no proof of insurance.

-A caller in the 4500 block of Slater Road reported that someone was attempting to get into her apartment, banging on the doors and windows. A 52-year-old man told police that he was trying to pick up his walker.

Sept. 10

-Police responded to an apartment in the 3400 block of Golfview Drive after a woman reported that she believed her 23-year-old daughter had taken an intentional overdose. Police entered the apartment and determined that the woman hadn’t taken an overdose, though she had sent her sister a text message earlier about wanting to take a bottle of pills and asking for someone to take care of her children. The woman was taken to a hospital.

-Police stopped a car at Kingswood Road and Pilot Knob Road. The 51-year-old driver refused to take an alcohol test, but admitted that she had been drinking.

-Police stopped a car in the 1200 block of Town Centre Drive and cited a 70-year-old man for DWI.

-A caller in the 3000 block of Holiday Lane told police that she had fought with a male, and that he wouldn’t let her charge her cell phone and had told her to find a ride home. The woman said she woke up with the man on top of her. Police separated the two and advised them to talk again in the morning.

-A caller in the 3400 block of Highlander Drive told police that an altercation was going on at a neighbor’s home. The caller overheard a man say he had a loaded gun and was “going to shoot everybody;” the caller said there were three small children in the home. The people were gone when police arrived.

-Police responded to a two-car accident at Diffley Road and Rahn Road, where one car was blocking traffic. Police cited one driver.

-Police responded to a 911 hangup in the 3300 block of River Bluff Drive. A woman said she needed help before the call was disconnected. A husband and wife were arguing over money, but both said the argument didn’t become physical.

-Police responded to a dispute in the 3000 block of Denmark Avenue, where a man and woman were arguing over who was at fault in a property damage incident. The woman accused the man of hitting her car with a shopping cart; the man denied it.

-A caller in the 1200 block of Diffley Road reported a drunk male, who identified himself as a mixed martial arts fighter, trying to pick fights with others. Police cited a 19-year-old man for numerous outstanding warrants and for underage drinking.
