Eagan Rotary Presents Student of the Month Awards

Eagan Rotary presented student of the month awards to three Eagan High School students for December, 2023 and January and February, 2024

Eagan Rotary recognized Students of the Month for December, January, and February.

December 2023 honoree: Sowmik Garishakurti
As a volunteer, Sowmik is a student ambassador with exchange students helping them to have an amazing high school experience. He is an assistant coach for Table Tennis Minnesota, and teaches youth the fundamentals of table tennis. In addition, Sowmik is a camp leader for BestPreps annual Minnesota Business Ventures Program and volunteers monthly for a religious organization.
Other activities include:
• Involvement in research pertaining to the field of kinesiology
• Captain of the Table Tennis Team
• Varsity Tennis and Ultimate Frisbee player
• Secretary Student Ambassador at Eagan High School
• Member of Business Professionals of America

He was in debate for 2 years, Speech for one year, and an Activity Coordinator for Asian Alliance.
For college, Sowmik is interested in attending the University of Minnesota.

January 2024 honoree: Tara Le
She is currently involved in peer tutoring, primarily in Science, Interact Club, and helping at school swim meets. She is on the Eagan High School swim and dive team, and is an assistant coach for the DHMS swim team.

In addition, Tara plays both flute and piano, is involved with Spanish club, the Asian Student Alliance, and LINK crew. On Sundays, she volunteers at her temple.

Tara is exploring college and university options for next year.

February 2024 honoree: Jacob Braginsky.
Jacob’s life revolves around his family, friends, and extracurricular activities.
Currently. He is captain of the Congressional debate team and has been involved since freshman year. He has earned 3rd in the state and qualified twice for the national tournament.

Music is also a big part of Jacob’s life. He has been playing piano since the age of five, and percussion since joining school band in 5th grade. Jacob currently plays in Wind Ensemble, Eagan High School’s top concert band and has been the Jazz band’s lead pianist since 9th grade. In his spare time, Jacob enjoys writing music and coming up with musical ideas, which led him to compose and copyright two full-length original compositions. One of these compositions will be performed by the EHS Wind Ensemble in May.

Recently, he was named a Finalist for the National Merit Scholarship.

As a graduate of the University of Minnesota Talented Youth Math Program, he wants to continue pursuing STEM and math-related studies by majoring in computer science or applied math in college. Jacob is still exploring college optionsfor next year.
