Fishers Rejoice: Eagan Stocks Hundreds of Juvenile Walleye in Local Lakes
Eagan stocked hundreds of juvenile walleye as part of a plan to provide anglers with more species diversity and promote ecological balance.
Eagan's fishermen and women may have better luck with their trolling in the near future. Swimmers can also hope to see clearer lakes.
With permission from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Eagan's Water Resources team recently stocked several hundred juvenile walleye into Fish and Blackhawk lakes, as part of a plan to provide anglers with more species diversity and also to promote ecological balance within lakes, which may lead to clearer waters.
Eagan and the DNR's Fishing in the Neighborhood program often partner in fish population surveys and stocking efforts in Eagan lakes, according to a news release.

Fishing in the Niehgborhood
Fishing in the Neighborhood is a DNR program aimed at increasing angling opportunities, public awareness and environmental stewardship within the seven-county metro region. As the state's population has become increasingly urbanized, it has become evident that there is a growing need for easily accessible fishing opportunities close to where people live, according to the DNR.
Eagan supports fishing lakes that are about a mile from most homes in the city.
