EAGAN, MN — Looking to recycle holiday lights this year? Dakota County warned residents not to put holiday lights in household recycling bins.

"While components of string lights and electrical cords can be made into new products, they don't belong in household recycling carts," the county said. "They wrap around machines at sorting facilities and cause damage."

To resolve this issue, Dakota County has put out several collection bins for holiday lights.
