Inver Grove Heights Woman Died In Crash On Highway 62
The crash happened near Dodd Avenue on Friday afternoon in Mendota Heights.

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN — The Hennepin County Medical Examiner released its autopsy report Monday on Margarita Cruz Garcia, a 66-year-old Inver Grove Heights woman who was killed in a crash on Highway 62 at Dodd Avenue last week.
Garcia was a passenger in the single-car crash that happened Friday afternoon.
The driver, a 70-year-old man also from Inver Grove Heights, survived with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said. He is being treated at Regions Hospital.

Just before 2:50 p.m., a 2023 Ford Ranger traveling eastbound on Highway 62 in the right lane drifted off to the right into the ditch, hit a tree, and rolled, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Garcia was declared dead just after 3 p.m. She died from multiple blunt force injuries due to the crash, the medical examiner ruled.

Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash, and alcohol was not a factor, authorities said. Both Garcia and the driver were wearing their seat belts, according to investigators.
