Craig has positioned herself as a moderate, touting her bipartisan efforts in Washington, D.C. Her campaign has focused heavily on protecting abortion access and portraying Teirab as a "lifelong anti-abortion activist."
She notes he is on the board of a crisis pregnancy center.
"Please know that I am doing everything in my power to fully protect and restore reproductive freedom in this country," Craig said in her Patch candidate profile.
"I’ve voted to codify abortion rights into law twice and I’m working on legislation to protect Minnesotans’ access to IVF and birth control – because I believe politics should have no role in your personal, private health care decisions. We value our freedoms in this district."
Editor's note: Teirab's campaign did not respond to Patch's request for comments.
Meanwhile, Teirab's campaign has emphasized inflation and public safety as the key issues of the race.
"Whether it’s record inflation, the chaos at the border, or the crime plaguing our communities, the Biden-Harris-Craig agenda has failed our district and our nation," he said in a campaign news release.
Teirab has downplayed the abortion issue, stating that "federal government should not dictate to states, especially Minnesota, what their abortion policy should be. I would vote against any federal ban or restrictions on abortion, and I support exceptions."
Teirab added that, "This is a deeply personal issue and it’s sad that Angie Craig would use it as a wedge to score political points."
