EAGAN, MN — For the second time in her political career, Democratic Rep. Angie Craig will face Republican Tyler Kistner as she seeks another term in office. Craig is seen as the most vulnerable Minnesota incumbent running in the 2022 midterm elections.

Craig was first elected to Congress in Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District in 2018 when she defeated incumbent Jason Lewis.

In 2020, Craig defeated Kistner by 9,580 votes or just over 2 percentage points. But Kistner hopes to prevail this year in a rematch, which is taking place after the district boundaries changed slightly following the 2020 Census.

And according to the Cook Political Report, Kistner has a good shot. The 2nd Congressional District race is currently rated a "toss-up" by the political analysis website.

However — as is the case for most incumbents — Craig has access to a financial war chest for the campaign.

Craig’s reelection campaign banked $4.7 million at the end of June, compared with Kistner's $523,000 at the same time.

The 2nd Congressional District is unique in Minnesota because it's neither a "dark red" district nor "dark blue," but purple, or moderate.
