EAGAN, MN — Where does the city of Eagan get its name from? Even if you've lived here all your life, you may not know.

Nearby Apple Valley is named for the apple trees planted in the southwest corner of the city. Rosemount was almost named Saratoga, but Rosemount was ultimately chosen for the city's Irish heritage.

Eagan Township was named after Patrick Eagan, who was the town's inaugural supervisor, according to city historians.
