Temporary Trail Closure: Round Lake Park

Trails on the west side of Round Lake will be temporarily closed beginning Jan. 24 for ash tree removal. During the closure, crews will be working to remove ash trees infected with emerald ash borer. The trail is anticipated to reopen the following week, once all work has been completed.

Part of the Round Lake Park Ash Tree Replacement Project, the removed trees will be replaced with various tree species at a 1:1 ratio. New trees are scheduled to be planted later this year. The project is funded by a grant from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, supporting the City’s proposal to keep the nearby trail safe from falling trees and to avoid deforestation.
