EP Historical Society Gets Help To Preserve Collection
The Minnesota Historical Society announced Thursday it has awarded the local group $5,300.

The Eden Prairie Historical Society (EPHS) has received $5,341 from the Minnesota Historical Society (MHS).
The MHS announced 48 grant awards Thursday, according to a news release.
The EPHS will use the money "to hire professional conservators to assess historically significant collections and write a long range preservation plan."

“Every year, we receive hundreds of grant proposals for the cause of history andhistoric preservation,” said David Grabitske, manager of outreach services for the Minnesota Historical Society. “We review each proposal to ensure the project meets established criteria and will preserve and enhance Minnesota’s cultural and historical resources. This latest round of grants wisely uses the power ofhistory to transform lives and communities, while building a legacy for Minnesota.”
The MHS is able to provide the awards through the Legacy Amendment's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

According to the Minnesota State Arts Board website, "As a result, over the next twenty-five years, 3/8 of one percent of the state’s sales tax will be dedicated as follows:
- 33 percent to a clean water fund,
- 33 percent to an outdoor heritage fund,
- 14.25 percent to a parks and trails fund, and
- 19.75 percent to an arts and cultural heritage fund
"Proceeds from the arts and cultural heritage fund 'may be spent only on arts, arts education and arts access and to preserve Minnesota’s history and cultural heritage.'"
