Music Teacher Charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct During In-Home Lessons

A 29-year-old man faces criminal sexual conduct charges for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old child during in-home music lessons over a three-month period of time.

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office last week filed fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct charges against Robert James Ladwig, a 29-year old private music teacher from Coon Rapids.

The charges are related to an incident that occurred on June 27, while Ladwig was teaching a private music lesson in an Eden Prairie home, according to Eden Prairie police, alleging that a 13-year-old boy was touched inappropriately during in-home music lessons over a three-month period.

According to court records, Ladwig pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct charge in 2011 after police were called to a report of an incident involving a juvenile female student in Eden Prairie.

Police are reminding parents about the importance of maintaining open communication with children and asking detailed questions about what takes place when children are in the care of another person.

"Anything that seems suspicious should be reported to local law enforcement," a news alert from the Eden Prairie Police Department reads.
