Their experiences, along with advice from Minnesota energy experts, highlight why planning ahead for replacement, understanding hybrid options, and lining up qualified contractors can help local homeowners cut utility bills and shrink their carbon footprints.
   

• How one Santa gets ready before spreading holiday cheer in Twin Cities (cbsnews.com) — One of the Twin Cities’ most beloved Santas actually gets ready for his busy season at his second home in Eden Prairie, where his wife helps transform him into “Santa Sid.” From a dedicated “Santa room” to decades of experience at Mall of America and metro events, he now leads a nonprofit that sends Santas and elves across the region.
   

• More than 63 tons of pork sandwiches recalled because of plastic pieces (foodsafetynews.com) — A food company based in Eden Prairie is recalling more than 127,000 pounds of Deli Express BBQ pulled pork sandwiches because some may contain pieces of plastic from barbecue sauce bottles. The sandwiches, produced between January and October, were distributed nationwide and to the Department of Defense. Officials urge anyone who has these sandwiches in their fridge or freezer not to eat them.
