Man charged in Eden Prairie Scheels thefts - Eden Prairie Local News (eplocalnews.org) — Eden Prairie shoppers are learning that police recently charged a Minneapolis man in connection with three alleged thefts of high-end multitools from the Scheels store here, totaling more than $800. Officers used surveillance video and a license-plate reader to track the suspect, who was detained in the store and now faces a gross misdemeanor theft charge with a first court appearance set for Dec. 17.
   

2. Michigan man charged after loaded gun found in Eden Prairie, complaint says (eplocalnews.org) — A Michigan man with a prior felony record was arrested in Eden Prairie after police say they found a loaded handgun in a backpack during a Nov. 28 traffic stop off Dell Road. He’s now charged in Hennepin County, released on conditional bail, and due back in court Dec. 24 at the Ridgedale courthouse in Edina.
   

3. Former UnitedHealth CEO McGuire to join health care talks between Fairview, U of M (startribune.com) — Minnesota officials have tapped former UnitedHealth CEO William McGuire to help mediate tense negotiations between Fairview Health Services and the University of Minnesota over future funding and branding. Eden Prairie figures in as the longtime base of UnitedHealth, whose former executives are now central to trying to keep Fairview’s substantial financial support for the U’s Medical School on track.
   

4. Ilhan Omar's Friend Blows Whistle, Confirms She Did Marry Her Brother to 'Get Him Papers' (slaynews.com) — Eden Prairie appears briefly in public records showing Rep. Ilhan Omar’s 2009 civil marriage took place at a Hennepin County office there, tying a national controversy to a local address. The story centers on a former associate’s allegations about Omar’s marital history and possible immigration fraud, which she denies and declines to discuss in detail.
