Dean's Lists, President's Lists, Graduates and Awards: Standout Students

Editor's Note: This is a compilation of news releases about Eden Prairie students who are attending college or expect to in the near future.

Fisher Graduates With Bachelor of Science

Erika Fisher of Eden Prairie, daughter of Wendy Zaro-Mullins, received a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism in December 2012. She graduated in the fall semester, according to a news release from the University of Kansas.

Augustana College Dean's List

Augustana College recently released its Dean's List for fall semester. "The Dean's List recognizes full-time students who have a minimum of 12 credit hours with grade-point averages at 3.5 or above," according to a news release from the school. The Eden Prairie students who made the list are:

• Samuel Gotham

Rochester Community and Technical College Dean's List

Kelsey Albertson of Eden Prairie made the Dean's List for fall semester 2012 at Rochester Community and Technical College. "To qualify for the Dean's List, a student must successfully complete 12 or more letter-graded credits, in the same semester, and achieve a grade point average between 3.0 and 4.0, according to a news release from the college.

Clemson University Dean's List

 Emily Anne Rausch of Eden Prairie, who is majoring in pre-business, made the Dean's List for fall semester at Clemson University. "To be named to the Dean's List, a student achieved a grade-point average between 3.50 and 3.99 on a 4.0 scale," according to a news release from the university.

Three Eden Prairie Students Graduate From UW-Stout

The following Eden Prairie residents graduated in December from the University of Wisconsin-Stout:

• Shea Teresa Cooney, who received a Bachelor of Science degree in retail merchandising and management.
• Shawn Rohan Gherau, who received a Master of Science degree in food and nutrition sciences.
• Veronica Mae McCracken, who received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in art.

University of Minnesota, Morris, Dean's List

Nathan Torell, of Eden Prairie, made the Dean's List for fall semester at the University of Minnesota, Morris. "To be eligible for the Dean's List students must achieve a grade point average of 3.66 or higher while taking 12 or more credits," according to a news release from the university.

Loyola Marymount University Dean's List

Melissa McIntosh, of Eden Prairie, made the Dean's List for fall semester at Loyola Marymount University (LMU). "Students named to the Dean's list have completed 15 semester hours at LMU and earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better," according to a news release from the university. "Additionally, a student must have completed all of his or her courses and never received an F in any course."

St. Olaf College Dean's List

Several Eden Prairie residents were named to the fall semester Dean's List at St. Olaf College in Northfield. "The Dean's list recognizes students with a semester grade point average of 3.75 or higher on a 4-point scale," according to a news release from the college. The local students who made the list are:

• Kathryn Bjorklund, daughter of Robert Bjorklund and Joan Plaisance, who is a French and political science major.
• Hannah Gelle, daughter of Fredric and Debra Gelle, who is undeclared.
• Kendra Johnson-Tesch, daughter of William Johnson and Teri Johnson-Tesch, who is a mathematics major.
• Tyler Nielsen, son of Brian and Debra Nielsen, who is a psychology major.
• Cassandra Paulsen, daughter of Erik and Kelly Paulsen, who is a political science major.
• Brian Plante, son of Arthur Plante and Victoria Plante, who is a chemistry major.
• Laura Post, daughter of John and Nancy Post, who is undeclared.
• Reilly Quirk, daughter of Patrick and Heidi Quirk, who is a Spanish major.
• Kyla Rathjen, daughter of Martin and Kimberly Rathjen, who is a sociology/anthropology major.
• Christian Wheeler, son of James and Cheryl Wheeler, who is undeclared.

Marquette University Dean's List

Several Eden Prairie residents were named to the fall semester Dean's List Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI:

• Mariah Morris, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthroplogy.
• Austin Wilson, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in business economics.
• Rachel Rouse, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in corporate communication.
• Kristin Koller, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
• Jared Wimmer, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in operations and supply chain management.
• Monica Lawton, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations.
• Sarah Graupman, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree and currently has an undeclared major.

Taylor University Dean's List

Two Eden Prairie residents were named to the fall semester Dean's List at Taylor University. "Full-time students are named to the Dean's List when they have earned a GPA of 3.60 or higher for the term and taken at least 12 hours of classes," according to a news release from the university. The local students who made the list are:

• Nicholas Van Heest

UW-River Falls Dean's List

Five Eden Prairie residents were named to the fall semester Dean's List at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. "To be named to the Dean's List, a full-time undergraduate student must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a scale of 4.0, or midway between an 'A' and 'B' average," according to a news release from the university. The local students who made the list are:

• Tanya Steinhoff, majoring in elementary education
• Lauren Matask, majoring in marketing communications
• Hayley Buchanan, majoring in health and human performance
• Matthew Tomlinson, majoring in physics
• Amy Cornish, majoring in elementary education

Drake University's Dean's List

Seven Eden Prairie residents made the fall semester Dean's List at Drake University. To be on the list, students had to achieved a GPA of 3.5 or above, according to a news release from the university. The local students who were named to the list are:

Drake University President's List

Everett Garton of Eden Prairie has been named to Drake University's President's List for fall semester. "Students must have a grade-point average of 4.0 to be receive this honor," according to a news release from the university.

University of North Dakota Dean's List

"The University of North Dakota Dean's List includes students whose grade point averages are in the top 15 percent of the enrollment in each of the University’s degree granting colleges and schools," according to a news release from the university. "A student must have completed no fewer than 12 semester hours of academic work for the semester, of which eight or more hours must be graded work rather than 'satisfactory/unsatisfactory.'" The Eden Prairie residents who made the list for fall semester are:

University of North Dakota President’s Roll of Honor

"To qualify for the University of North Dakota President’s Roll of Honor, a student must have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.80 or higher," according to a news release from the university. "The student must also have earned a minimum of 30 semester hours and have completed a minimum of 12 hours at the close of the semester, eight of which must be fore traditional letter grades." The Eden Prairie residents who made the list are:

• Erick Underwood

University of North Dakota D.J. Robertson List

Three Eden Prairie residents received the D.J. Robertson Award "for earning 'straight A' averages for the 2012 Fall semester," according to a news release from the University of North Dakota. "The award honors the late D.J. Robertson, the first dean of UND’s University College and a faculty member for 37 years." The local students who received the award are:
