$1 Million Prize Rinsed Away from Edina Comedian
Jim DeSimone was one of 25 finalists in Gain's 'Smell Like a Million Bucks' contest.

Edina resident Jim DeSimone could very well smell like a million bucks, but he won't be quitting his day job anytime soon.
DeSimone's as part of Gain's "Smell Like a Million Bucks" contest. The Edina comedian officially got word on Aug. 2 his group didn't take home the grand prize. His reaction? Good humored.
"I think we get $40 worth of Gain detergent," he said. "Kind of hard to split that four ways—unless it comes in four $10 value parcels."

Votes were tallied from Facebook users, though DeSimone said he hasn't seen an official count. It could be for the best, he said, as he might not want to know how far he and his group were from the grand prize.
DeSimone said he learned the advantages organized groups held during the voting process. He's taking the loss in stride and said the winning video "is a decent piece of work."

Although the money would have been nice, DeSimone said, the group will simply move forward with additional projects.
"I don't really use Gain, so I guess it is appropriate, as I neither have nor smell like a million bucks," he said.
