58th Annual POPS Show Features Superheroes, Show Tunes

Dubbed SUPERPOPS, this year's version of the long-standing show kicks off this weekend at Edina High School.

The concert band has been deep in preparations for it 58th annual POPS Concert, SUPERPOPS. This year's iteration of the show includes everything from dancing superheroes to a bassoon arrangement of several Lady Gaga songs.

2011 also marks the first outing for Paul Kile, who replaced Bill Webb as conductor of the EHS concert and symphonic bands. Kile has directed the school's marching band for the past five years.

The show — which includes a silent auction sponsored by the band boosters — runs two consecutive weekends, beginning Saturday, Feb. 19 and concluding Saturday, Feb. 26. Tickets are available both at the door one hour prior to each performance, through the Edina Performing Arts Center box office from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Feb. 18, 24, and 25 or through the band's website.
