Biewen Named to All-Metro Second Team

The Edina senior is looking to add a state title to her resume when the tournament starts Wednesday.

 guard KatyBeth Biewen is among a best girls basketball players in the Twin Cities, according to a list released Monday night.

Biewen, a senior at EHS, was named to the Star Tribune's 2011-12 All-Metro Second Team. Biewen averaged 17.8 points per game this year, for a total of 464 points during regular season play. She is Edina’s all-time leader in both steals and assists.

The newspaper praised Biewen's leadership, saying she "carried the Hornets when M.C. McGrory was injured."

Biewen and the rest of the Hornets will put their talents to use when they in the Class AAAA girls state basketball tournament quarterfinals at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 14, at the Target Center.
