Local Teen Finds Hope, Family in Edina Home
WCCO's story on Cavonte Johnson shows the teen's difficult journey to success at Edina High School.
senior Cavonte Johnson's life story would make one heck of an inspirational sports movie.
WCCO recently put together a heartwarming look at Johnson's trials and tribulations, including his move five years ago to live with Doug and Sarah Jones of Edina. Since moving in with the Jones family, Cavonte has been on the A-Honor Roll and lettered in football, basketball and track.
He's even been encouraged to attempt to walk-on with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers this fall by Coach Jerry Kill.

“If you want to do something in life, you’ll do it,” he said. “If you don’t, don’t make an excuse. I don’t like to make excuses. I’m a competitor. I love proving people wrong.”
