Community Invited to Help Demolish Cornelia Playground
The elementary school's 17-year-old playground will be torn down this Saturday, June 25.

With installation of new playground set to begin next month, the school is calling on community members to help demolish the old one this weekend.
Teams of four volunteers will work in two-hour shifts under the supervision of M|A|Peterson staff, who are donating their expertise and equipment toward the demolition.
Principal Chris Holden said parent volunteers are "donating sweat equity" to help tear down the 17-year-old playground equipment all day on Saturday, June 25.

"Before families can enjoy Cornelia's , the old one must be removed and the site prepared," Holden said.
Shifts run throughout the day Saturday, with prospective volunteers encouraged to register for a shirt and lunch online. Sandwiches and refreshments will be served to volunteers from 11 a.m. - noon.

Work shifts are as follows:
- 9 - 11 a.m. (Shift one)
- Noon - 2 p.m. (Shift two)
- 2 - 4 p.m. (Shift three)
While no special tools are required to take part in the demolition, volunteers who have cordless drills or socket wrench sets are encouraged to bring them. Organizers suggest any volunteers wear comfortable clothing—temperatures are forecast to be in the 70s with a slight chance of precipitation—and bring along a pair of work gloves to protect their hands.
