Council Examining Safer Roads Plan Tuesday Night
Edina working on "Living Streets" policy.

Tuesday night, the Edina City Council is scheduled to hear details on how it might firm up a plan that proponents say will make the streets safer.
The work session—a less formal study session that doesn't include major decision-making—is devoted to examining how the city might go about writing a "Living Streets" policy. The policy would guide city staff in a slow-motion effort to make streets more bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly.
"The City will plan, design, and build high-quality transportation facilities that meet the needs of the most vulnerable users (pedestrians, cyclists, children, elderly, and disabled) while enhancing safety and convenience for all users and providing access and mobility for all modes," says an outline of proposed goals posted on the city website.
The council is also slated to consider a resolution declaring their support for the large project that same meeting, and will also hear comments from other city bodies.
