Edina Boys Hockey Wins Sectional Title, Returns To State Tourney

Edina beat Benilde-St. Margaret's in the Section 6AA championship game Wednesday to book its ticket to the Class AA state tournament.

EDINA, MN — The Edina boys hockey team will launch its quest for another state championship next week after taking down Benilde-St. Margaret’s on Wednesday night to win the Section 6AA title.

The Hornets won 4-0, with goals from Caden Morgan, Jackson Nevers, Matt VanderVort and Wyatt Wurst. Edina goalie Robbie Clarkowski stopped 26 shots from Benilde-St. Margaret’s to earn a shutout in front of a sold-out crowd at the Bloomington Ice Garden.

The Edina boys hockey team will make its first appearance in the state tournament since 2019, when they won the title, according to a report on the MN Boys’ Hockey Hub.

The Hornets are scheduled to play March 10 in the Class AA quarterfinals. Their opponents have not yet been determined.
