Edina Hosting Family Olympics this Saturday

Residents can attend the festivities free of charge from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Rosland Park.

If you're filled with competitive spirit after watching a week's worth of the 2012 Olympic Games and want to "go for the gold" locally? Then clear your schedule from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, for the .

The Edina Community Foundation is teaming with the City of Edina and Connecting with Kids to host a family celebration this weekend at . The Edina Family Olympics will be focused on family games, sports and exercise clinics inspired by the Olympics and Blue Cross's ongoing do.town initiative.

Activities will include bean-bag shot put, disc toss, egg toss and race, family-legged race, ladder golf, parent pony rides, squirt gun shaving and more. The event will also feature an hour-long yoga class—from 5 to 6 p.m.—and an Irish dancing clinic among other activities.

Families are also encouraged to bring healthy snacks for a picnic in the park.

Following the festivities, attendees can stick around to watch a screening of The Green Hornet on an inflatable screen in the park. The entire event is free and open to the public, with no registration required.
