Edina Crews Respond to Smoking Laundry Basket, Trapped Worker
The Edina Fire Department's weekly activity report for April 4-10.

The Edina Fire Department responded to the following incidents during the week of April 4-10:
April 4
- Seven incidents required assistance from paramedic firefighters for Emergency Medical Service.
- Six false fire alarms were investigated by firefighters.
April 5

- 10 EMS incidents.
- A resident was illegally burning yard waste and was instructed on the regulations and the permit necessary for a recreational fire.
April 6
- 19 EMS responses.
- Smoke was reported in the area of France Avenue and Parklawn Avenue. Firefighters found that dust from a demolition construction project was mistaken for smoke.
- One false fire alarm was reported.
April 7

- Eight EMS calls.
- One false fire alarm occurred.
April 8
- 11 EMS responses.
- Members of the Special Operations team were called to respond to Eden Prairie in the 6800 block of Shady Oak Road. A worker was caught between a wall and a forklift, but was rescued before help was needed.
- A caller reported a possible grass fire in the area of Hwy. 100 and Hwy. 62. Firefighters responded and investigated but did not find a fire.
- Firefighters investigated a reported natural gas smell near the furnace in the 3200 block of West 76th Street. No gas was measured but the gas company was notified to follow up.
- There was one false fire alarm reported.
April 9
- Medics responded to 11 EMS incidents.
- One false fire alarm.
April 10
- Edina Fire was requested to respond for mutual aid to smoke reported in an apartment complex in the 7600 block of Knox Avenue. Edina crews stood by at the scene until Richfield Fire found the source of the smoke to be a laundry basket of clothes.
- 10 EMS responses.
- A carbon monoxide alarm malfunction was checked on Cooper Avenue.
- One false fire alarm also occurred.
