Edina's Lampert Named American Legion Pitcher of the Year

Alex Lampert was recognized by the head coaches of the South Hennepin League for a tremendous season on the mound.

Alex Lampert—one of three talented pitchers with Edina's American Legion team—was recently honored by the head coaches of the South Hennepin League by being named Pitcher of the Year.

The Edina Legion team qualified for the state tournament earlier this week, with Lampert pitching all nine innings of the competition. They'll play in the tournament next weekend.

Edina Coach Nick Kennedy said the honor was well deserved by Lampert, who posted tremendous stats all season long.

"With Post 471 playing our games in the arguably the toughest league in the state, and with the talented pitchers in the South Hennepin this year, this is a major accomplishment and an honor to say the least," Kennedy wrote. "Please make sure you congratulate Alex next time you see him."

At the time of the award, Lampert had a 8-1 record, with one save, a 0.95 ERA, 51 1/3 innings pitched and 50 strikeouts.
