Incumbent, 3 Newcomers Win ISD 273 Board Race: Unofficial Results

EDINA, MN — One incumbent is set to return to the Edina Public Schools board for another term alongside three new members following the Nov. 2 election.

Incumbent Erica Allenburg earned the third-most votes (5,745), with all 19 ISD 273 precincts reporting vote totals, according to unofficial election results.

Dan Arom earned the most votes (5,917), followed by Karen Gabler (5,776), unofficial results show.

Michael Birdman had the fourth-highest vote total with 5,380. He leads incumbent Owen Michaelson by almost 1,500 votes and Nicole Schnell by more than 1,600 votes, with all 19 ISD 273 precincts reporting vote totals.

Schnell conceded the race in a short video posted to Facebook around 8:50 p.m. Tuesday.

"I’m sorry it didn't go as we planned it to go, but all the best to my fellow candidates," Schnell said. "And let’s continue to be a part of this. Our kids need us."

Allenburg congratulated her fellow seat-winners in a Facebook post around 11 p.m. Tuesday night and said she is "looking forward to working with them on the board and collaborating on the issues facing our district."

Gabler thanked her supporters and opponents Wednesday morning after winning a seat on the board.

"I want to thank the Edina voters for electing me to serve on the Edina School Board," Gabler wrote on Facebook. "I am humbled by the support I have received throughout this campaign and look forward to serving on the Board and seeing what we can do, together, for our students."

Almost 600 write-in votes were also cast in the race for the Edina Public Schools board.
