A pair of Edina middle schoolers who have been skiing together since they were five will be competing at a national competition in Colorado this weekend. Sydney Olsen, 12, and Kaitlyn Fiery, 12, have qualified to race in the NASTAR 2012 National Championships on Mar. 22-25. Olsen is a 7th grader at , while Fiery is in 6th grade at . The two friends will be competing against each other in the Alpine Gold Division for females 11-12 years in age. They'll be in good company, as Olympians Ted Ligety and Picabo Street will join other former U.S. Ski Team members as special guests at the championships this year.
