Crews Rescue Man from Balcony, Respond to Gas Leaks
The Edina Fire Department's weekly activity report for June 13-19.

The responded to the following incidents during the week of June 13-19:
June 13
- Nine Emergency Medical Service responses by paramedic firefighters.
- Two false fire alarms were investigated.

- 14 EMS incidents.
- A natural gas service line was struck by a road crew on Glouchester Drive and 72nd Street West. Residents were evacuated until the gas company repaired the leak.
- A natural gas line was cut by a construction crew in the 5200 block of Schaefer Road. Neighbors were evacuated and the gas company arrived to repair the line.
- Firefighters investigated a report of a tree branch on a power line on West 54th Street and Halifax Avenue but were not able to locate a problem.
- A carbon monoxide malfunction was investigated in the 6000 block of Ewing Avenue. No carbon monoxide was measured and the homeowner was advised to replace the more than 10-year-old alarm.
- One false fire alarm.
June 15
- 13 EMS calls.
- Paramedics and an engine crew responded to a vehicle crash with injuries on Hwy. 100 at Hwy. 62.
- Two false fire alarms were reported.
June 16

- The aerial ladder truck and crew were requested by Minnetonka Fire Department to respond to a fire in a high rise in the 5600 block of Smetana Drive in their city. Firefighters stood by the scene in case the ladder truck was needed.
- Eight EMS incidents.
- Paramedic firefighters provided EMS at a vehicle crash with injuries on France Avenue and West 65th Street.
- A natural gas line was cut by road crews in the 5600 block of Highwood Drive. The gas company was contacted, firefighters cordoned off the area and notified residents.
June 17
- Seven EMS responses.
- A vehicle crash with injuries occurred on West 69th Street and France Avenue.
- One false fire alarm.
June 18
- Seven EMS incidents.
- Firefighters responded to the 6000 block of Drew Avenue for reported smoke, which turned out to be smoke coming from a barbeque grill.
- Two false fire alarms were investigated.
June 19
- Firefighters responded to the 6800 block of Dovre Drive to investigate a fire alarm. Crews found a plastic cover of a three ring binder had melted when the cook top was accidentally turned on. The occupants were advised not to store combustibles on or near the stove.
- 12 EMS incidents.
- Firefighters assisted with a person locked out and on a second floor apartment balcony in the 4400 block of Parklawn Avenue.
- A request from St. Louis Park Fire Department for mutual assistance at a possible structure fire was canceled en route.
- Two false fire alarms were investigated.
