Franklin Street Bakery Closes Edina Location
The popular Edina bakery and coffee shop shut its doors for good on Monday, Mar. 12.

The Edina location of shut down regular operations Monday, Mar. 12, because one owner says it "didn't get the traffic we were expecting."
Co-owner Wayne Kostroski said the store simply didn't get enough traffic or turn enough profit to support keeping the location open.
The Edina bakery had been in operation for close to two years, and was the first location outside of the company's Minneapolis bakery.

"We thought we'd try putting it where we did given the amount of business that came from the west side of the Twin Cities," Kostroski said. "It didn't work out, but our main business was unaffected."
The store's eight part-time employees were informed of the decision earlier this week. Kostroski said some are being interviewed for other positions, while others are moving on from the company.

While business might have not been heavy enough to keep the bakery open, it was definitely a popular choice with locals. In fact, the bakery was just last week on our site.
