Girls Basketball Battling Eden Prairie for Section Title
The No. 1 seeded Hornets face the No. 2 seeded Eagles on Friday, Mar. 9.

After starting off their season with an , the girls basketball team finished out their season with an impressive 22-4-0 record.
The Hornets were seeded No. 1 in the Section 2AAAA girls basketball bracket and have since defeated tough opponents in Lakeville South and Prior Lake—62-31 and 66-52, respectively—to make it to the section title game. Their opponents are no strangers, as the girls now must defeat Lake Conference rival Eden Prairie to advance to the state tournament.
The two teams have already met twice this season, with mixed results. Eden Prairie defeated Edina 53-46 the first time they met, but the Hornets regrouped to defeat the Eagles 36-34 just a couple of weeks later. Who will emerge victorious in the championship game is anyone's guess.

Senior Katybeth Biewen led the team with a staggering total of 464 points during regular season play. Lindsey Johnson contributed 255 points on the season, while MC McGrory had 242.
Biewen has also been the leading scorer for the team in the playoffs, notching 42 points in two games. McGrory scored 34, Johnson 16 and Jill Morton contributed 12.
