The Edina boys alpine skiing team finished second at the 2012 state meet Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Giants Ridge in Biwabik. The boys team narrowly missed a win at the state meet, takind second place to Lake Conference foe Minnetonka, 147 points to 161. It was a significant improvement for the boys, who just last year finished tied for sixth place at the meet. Jake Campbell finished ninth overall with an individual time of 1:11.71, followed by fellow Hornets Spencer Knack in 23rd place (1:13.90), Will Baker in 26th (1:14.52), Alex Thomson in 45th (1:18.69) and Peter Smith in 61st (1:28.50). Ana Martinez—the lone Hornet to qualify for state from the girls alpine ski team—finished 50th overall with a time of 1:26.49.
