(PHOTOS) Hornets Take Third at State Tournament

Edina defeats Lakeville North 1-0 in third place game on Saturday, Feb. 25.

It wasn't the state title they were hoping to bring home to , but the girls hockey team closed out its state tournament appearance with a 1-0 win Saturday night to finish third in Minnesota.

Following a hard in the state tournament semifinals, the Hornets rallied to win a third-place game against a solid Lakeville North team at the Xcel Energy Center. All it took was a second period goal by senior forward Renee Johnson—assisted by Liz Trautz—to secure the win for Edina in a close, defensive battle.

Edina had a total of 21 shots on goal in the game, seven more than Lakeville North's 14.

Goalie Maddie Dahl was like a wall throughout the game, with a total of 14 saves on the evening.
